My name is Jason Lightoller, and I am a professional Funeral Celebrant dedicated to helping families create meaningful, personal and heartfelt ceremonies during one of life’s most difficult moments.
I believe every life deserves to be honoured with dignity, warmth and authenticity. My role is to listen, support and guide you, ensuring the ceremony reflects your loved one’s personality, values and story.
With years of experience supporting families across Surrey, Hampshire and South London, I bring a calm, reassuring presence and a genuine commitment to helping you feel supported, understood and cared for.
As well as becoming a celebrant, I have spent over 32 years as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) within the NHS, working in a variety of roles across healthcare, including the ambulance service. I am still working for the NHS now as a midwife. This experience has given me a profound understanding of empathy, support, and the importance of listening qualities that are at the heart of my work as a celebrant.
In addition to my professional roles, I also volunteer as a listener with the Samaritans, offering a compassionate ear to those in need.
Whether you're planning a funeral, memorial, or celebration of life, I’m here to help you create a ceremony that truly honours your loved one’s memory.
Raised within the Romani culture, I carry with me a deep appreciation for the richness of diversity and the unique paths we each walk in life. This background has shaped my understanding that no two lives are the same and that every person, regardless of how long or short their time with us, has a story worth telling.
I believe that every life is unique, and so too should be the ceremony that honours it. A funeral is more than a farewell, it is a once-only opportunity to reflect, remember, and celebrate a life in a way that is true, heartfelt, and meaningful. That’s why I take the time to listen, to learn, and to understand as much as I can about your loved one, their values, their passions, their quirks, and the memories they leave behind.
Together, we will shape a ceremony that tells their story with warmth, dignity, and authenticity. Whether you wish for something traditional, contemporary, spiritual, or entirely personal, I will work with you to ensure the service is a genuine reflection of the life lived and a source of comfort and connection for those left behind.
